《我以貌取人》
在《我以貌取人》中，郑亭亭拍摄她从伦敦图书馆所借来的各国语言书籍，在影像作品中，观者无法得知该书籍的语言，只能从标题一探究竟。语言是一个筛选机制，一个闸门(gate)，将不懂该语言的人挡在门外，不让他们取得该文字的意涵。艺术家以文化外来者(Cultural outsider)的身份，面对着无法阅读的书籍时，被语言的闸门挡在门外，仅纯粹凭该书籍的外表，而非内容来筛选，也就是她judge a book by its cover(英文俗谚中比喻以貌取人之意)。反映着现代社会中，人们无可避免的以他人国籍的刻板印象来评判他人。另一方面，书籍原是知识的门户(portal)，在失去了被阅读的功能时，它变成了纯粹的物件，这里堆栈成塔的书籍，也比喻着圣经中巴别塔(Babel)的故事，讲述上帝为了分裂人们，而创造了不同的语言。该系列包括八张作品，每张作品包含一种不同语言的书籍。单张影像大小为90cm x 90cm。

郑亭亭生于1985年，台北，毕业于伦敦西敏大学摄影艺术硕士。她藉由摄影、文字以及声音，利用对日常生活物件荒谬的处置，来揭开隐藏的含义(connotation)。有时候她的作品是一个实验，藉由机会(chance)及偶遇(encounter)的概念，来引导出无法预测的结果
另外，在旅居伦敦及驻村的期间，身为社会上的外来者，她也用不同的角度来探讨外来性、身分认同、以及国籍或语言间刻板印象等议题。
她现在创作于伦敦和台北之间。
